Jaye Calhoun and William Kolarik Join Kean Miller

Kean Miller is pleased to announce that Jaye A. Calhoun has joined the firm as a partner in the New Orleans office, and that William J. Kolarik, II has joined the firm as Special Counsel in the Baton Rouge office.  Both were formerly with McGlinchey Stafford.  Jaye and Willie bring extensive state and local tax (SALT) and multistate taxation experience.  Both provide full-service tax representation covering federal, state and local issues and tax controversy representation.  “We are thrilled to welcome Jaye and Willie to the Kean Miller family.  The creative solutions they provide to clients in the tax arena at the local, state and multistate level is a welcome addition to our existing SALT team,” said Blane Clark, Managing Partner of the 154 attorney law firm.

About Jaye Calhoun
Jaye Calhoun provides clients with full service tax representation covering federal, state and local challenges and opportunities.  She has more than 20 years of experience and assists her clients with tax compliance and planning, guidance on the use of tax and business incentives, and represents clients in tax audits and controversies.  She currently represents clients in audits and administrative and judicial appeals before the IRS, the State of Louisiana Department of Revenue, and numerous local taxing authorities. Jaye is certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization in both Taxation and in Estate Planning.

Jaye earned her B.S. from Tulane University, H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College in 1987. She earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 1991, and her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997.

About William Kolarik
Willie assists clients with a variety of state and local tax matters. He also has extensive experience assisting public utility clients with state and local tax matters and with the tax and tax related regulatory accounting issues associated with public utility ratemaking, e.g., normalization and consolidated tax savings adjustments.  In addition, Willie has participated in numerous power and utilities transactions for both private equity firms and strategic investors involving both regulated and unregulated targets.

Willie earned his B.B.A. and M.P.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. He earned his J.D./D.C.L., cum laude, from the LSU Law Center in 2009 and his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 2010.
