Kean Miller LLP Names Two New Partners

Kean Miller LLP is pleased to announce that Scott D. Huffstetler and Tara M. Madison have been elected to the partnership effective January 1, 2010.   

About Scott Huffstetler

Scott Huffstetler is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller LLP.  Prior to joining the firm, Scott served as a Law Clerk to United States District Court Judge Frank J. Polozola, Middle District of Louisiana.  Scott practices in the firm’s labor and employment law group. Scott advises and represents employers on a variety of labor and employment issues including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation litigation and issues involving the EEOC and Department of Labor; the ADA, FLSA, FMLA and Title VII; state employment laws regarding employment discrimination, wage payment, workers compensation, and unemployment compensation; and employment contracts, covenants not to compete and confidentiality agreements. He has particular experience in defending employers in discrimination, harassment, and retaliation lawsuits in state and federal courts.   In addition to his labor and employment experience, Scott also represents clients in redhibition and warranty suits, succession disputes, and premises liability and asbestos related cases.  Scott earned his law degree from the LSU Law Center in 2003 where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.  In law school, Scott was a member of Phi Delta Phi and served on the Board of Editors for the Louisiana Law Review.  He was awarded the Russell B. Long Federal Courts Award by the local chapter of the Federal Bar Association.  Scott earned his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in English from Louisiana State University in 2000.  He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2003 and is admitted to practice before the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  Scott is a member of the Louisiana State, Baton Rouge, and Federal Bar Associations (Younger Lawyers Division, Baton Rouge Chapter).  

About Tara Madison

Tara Madison is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller LLP.  She joined the firm in 2004 and practices in the commercial litigation and intellectual property groups.  She has particular experience in trademark, copyright, trade dress, and trade secret matters, including copyright and trademark infringement litigation.  Tara earned her J.D./Bachelors of Civil Law from the LSU Law Center in 2004 and was an Editor in Chief of the Louisiana Law Review.  In law school she was a member of the Order of the Coif, the Chancellor’s List, and the Wex Malone Inns of Court.  She earned a B.A. in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University in 2001 where she was a University Medalist for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.    She was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 2003 and is admitted to practice before the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Louisiana and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  Tara is a member of the Louisiana State, Baton Rouge, American and Federal Bar Associations and is a member of the Wex S. Malone Inns of Court.
