Lana Crump is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. She joined the firm in 1995 and represents clients in toxic tort defense, federal civil rights cases and insurance litigation. Lana has represented clients in claims involving business losses arising from Hurricane Katrina.  She has particular expertise in class action litigation involving chemical exposures and catastrophic accidents. She defends disability claims for insurance companies. Lana also counsels municipalities involving various municipal and civil rights issues.

Representative Experience

• Representation of a major petrochemical company in a $50 million class action lawsuit involving alleged exposure to hazardous materials.
• Representation of a large oil company in a class action involving refinery flaring and emissions of sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide.
• Representation of a national insurance carrier in multiple suits against the insurance company including complex claims for policy disability benefits and accidental death benefits.
• Successfully defended a national insurance company in a fraud claim alleging misrepresentations in dealing with security interests on annuity accounts.
• Representation of the Louisiana Municipal Association on significant municipal law issues in appellate courts and the Louisiana Supreme Court.
• Representation of the Louisiana Department of Justice advocating its position on the statutory representation requirement by the Louisiana Attorney General.
• Representation of municipalities throughout south Louisiana in the defense of federal civil rights suits, including a case involving allegations of federal conspiracy in the United States Supreme Court.
• Representation of a manufacturer in a multimillion dollar lawsuit involving a mechanical failure and resulting property damage and alleged chemical exposure.
• Representation of clients seeking recovery of insurance benefits for economic and property losses arising from the effects of Hurricane Katrina.
  

Education

Lana earned her B.A. from Louisiana State University in 1992. She earned her J.D. from the LSU Law Center in 1995 where she was a member of the Order of the Coif, Moot Court Board, and the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame.
