Jim Doré is a partner at Kean Miller and practices in the firm’s litigation group. He also works in the firm’s Plaquemine office. Jim works with clients in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy litigation, legacy oil field operations, medical malpractice defense, toxic tort and environmental litigaiton, class actions, and construction law. He has extensive litigation experience as lead counsel, and as brought over 85 cases to verdict in bench and jury trials. Jim has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White) in 2008 and Louisiana Super Lawyers (Law & Politics) 2008.
Representative Experience:
- Representation of major forest products companies in commercial and contract litigation, environmental litigation, and toxic tort claims.
- Successful representation of global energy companies in legacy oil field lawsuits.
- Representation of multinational refiners and petrochemical companies in class action litigation.
- Representation of financial institutions in high-stakes bankruptcy litigation and bankruptcy proceedings, including trial strategy and litigation management.
- Negotiated and drafted employment and other contracts between healthcare providers and litigated these issues.
- Has represented physicians and other healthcare providers in healthcare law and malpractice claims for over 25 years.
Education
Jim earned his B.A. in 1969 and his J.D. from the LSU Law Center in 1973. He was with the Louisiana Department of Justice from 1973 until 1976 and was an Adjunct Instructor of Environmental Law at the Louisiana State University School of Paralegal Studies.
