Sandy Edwards is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. She joined the firm in 1986 and practices in the environmental and litigation practice group. She represents local, national and international energy and industrial clients in environmental litigation and regulatory law. Sandy works with clients in the toxic tort litigation area with an emphasis on Superfund issues, RCRA/HWSA issues, wetlands development, TSCA, and state air toxics matters. She has represented clients in numerous Superfund cases, class action litigation, and compliance with local, state and federal environmental laws.

Sandy has particular experience in cases involving toxic tort matters and regulatory compliance.

Representative Experience

  • Representation of a group of Louisiana ammonia producers in rulemaking development regarding the state's air toxics program.
  • Representation of pipelines in connection with PCB remediation projects throughout the state of Louisiana.
  • Defense of an international energy company in a $100 million class action law suit alleging release and exposure to hazardous chemicals by over 150 class action plaintiffs.
  • Representation of chemical companies in remediation efforts to clean up numerous sites and negotiations with the EPA.
  • Representation of various chemical companies in toxic tort cases arising out of releases from manufacturing facility.

Education

Sandy earned her B.S. in Microbiology from Louisiana State University in 1975 and her M.S. in Microbiology in 1978. She earned her J.D. from the LSU Law Center in 1984 where she is a member of the LSU Law Center Hall of Fame and served as a member of the Louisiana Law Review. Sandy also served as a law clerk to the Hon. Frank J. Polozola, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Louisiana, from 1984 until 1986.
