Brett Fenasci is a partner in the New Orleans office of Kean Miller.  He joined the firm in 2006 and his practice areas include admiralty and maritime as well as general commercial litigation.

Brett is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, teaching Maritime Employee Remedies (2009-present).

Representative Experience

• Obtained defense verdict in jury trial of offshore personal injury claim against global energy producer
• Obtained defense verdict in jury trial of personal injury claim against offshore oil and gas exploration and production company
• Successfully defended offshore drilling company in jury trial of Jones Act claim
  
• Representation of energy company in multi-million dollar claim involving pipeline rupture caused by grounding of semi-submersible drilling rig
• Representation of numerous drilling companies, energy companies, and offshore oilfield contractors in lawsuits filed by offshore workers under the Jones Act, General Maritime Law, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA), the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA), as well as Louisiana and Texas state law
• Representation of vessel owners in property damage and personal injury litigation arising out of towing operations
• Representation of various drilling companies and oil companies in contractual disputes, including Master Service Agreements
• Representation of energy company in oil well blow-out resulting in personal injuries and property damage
• Representation of CO2 manufacturer in product liability litigation
• Representation of oilfield equipment manufacturer in product liability litigation
• Representation of ship repairer in claim by vessel owner for property damage
• Representation of construction companies in contract disputes
• Representation of Levee Board in class action antitrust litigation filed by pleasure craft owners
  

Education

Brett earned his B.A. in History, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 2002. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, in May 2005 from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law where he was a member of the Loyola Law Review and Loyola Moot Court. While at Loyola, Brett received several honors and awards, including the Judge S. Sanford Levy Best Brief Award and Memorial Scholarship, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocate Award, and the Law Excellence Awards for Federal Civil Procedure, Trial Practice, and Louisiana Obligations.
