Jennifer Gary is of counsel in the Lake Charles office of Kean Miller. She joined the firm in 1997 and practices in the litigation and toxic tort defense group. Jennifer has extensive experience in the Louisiana petrochemical and manufacturing industry and assists clients with regard to litigation strategy and litigation management. She has particular experience in litigation involving chemical exposure, industry wide conspiracy, toxic tort, products liability, complex litigation, and workers' compensation. Jennifer also serves as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau of Southwest Louisiana.
Representative Experience
- Representation of ConocoPhillips Company in connection with alleged exposure to sulfur dioxide
- Representation of CONDEA Vista Company (now Sasol North America) in connection with alleged exposure during the cleanup of EDC leak in Lake Charles, Louisiana
- Representation of Sasol North America in alleged sulfur dioxide and sulfur trioxide exposure case, which was settled for a nominal amount
- Representation of Shell Chemical in alleged defective pipe case
- Tried worker's compensation case in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for CONDEA Vista Company involving alleged injury during a functional capacity evaluation, which resulted in a favorable outcome
- Litigation of more than 330 cases involving alleged exposure to chemicals for some of Louisiana's most prominent petrochemical companies
- Handle arbitrations and mediations for parties ranging from national automobile and mobile home manufacturers to local businesses and consumers
Education
Jennifer earned her B.S. in Pre-Med/Biology from McNeese State University in 1989. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law in 1995. She served as Law Clerk to the Chief Judge of the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal from 1996 to 1997 and as a Law Clerk to all judges of the Fourteenth Judicial District Court, from 1995 to 1996. She has completed courses in mediation through the American Arbitration Association and in arbitration through the national Council of Better Business Bureaus.
