Melanie Hartmann is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller.  She joined the firm in 1989 and practices in the labor and employment law group. She represents clients in employment litigation and works with management on a wide variety of issues including compliance with state and federal employment laws. Melanie actively represents employers in court and administrative proceedings and has experience with federal agencies including the EEOC and the Department of Labor. With 22 years of experience in employment law, she has defended employers against allegations of employment discrimination, Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, retaliation and harassment.

Melanie was listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White, Inc. 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 Editions. She was listed in Chambers USA—America's Leading Business Lawyers (Employment Law, 2004-2008 and 2010-2011) and in Louisiana Super Lawyers (2008-2011).

Education

Melanie earned her B.S. in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 1980. She earned her J.D. from the LSU Law Center in 1984. She was a member of the Moot Court Board from 1983 to 1984.
