Ben Miller is of counsel in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller.  A founding member of the firm, he has more than 46 years of experience in commercial and industrial transactions, real estate, tax and corporate law.  Ben served as the firm’s managing partner for 15 years.  His experience in Louisiana corporate and business law enables him to recognize the specialized issues involved in commercial and industrial acquisitions, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate matters.  Ben has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White, Inc.) since 1989 and in Chambers USAAmerica’s Leading Business Lawyers (Corporate Law/Mergers & Acquisitions, 2003-2011). 

Ben represents clients in the finance, acquisition, construction, purchase, refinancing, management, leasing and sale of various types of real estate developments, both commercial and residential, including office buildings, shopping malls, manufacturing parks, retail centers, industrial facilities, and commercial developments.  He advises business and corporate clients with regard to commercial lending transactions, financings, and the structure and formation of corporate entities.  He has extensive experience in the negotiation and structuring of construction, permanent and mezzanine financing.

Education

Ben earned his B.S., cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 1961.  He earned his J.D. from the LSU Law Center in 1961 where he is a member of the LSU Law School Hall of Fame.  During law school he was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Louisiana Law Review.  After law school, he was a Captain in the U.S. Army and served in its Judge Advocate General's School and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law at Louisiana State University Law School.
