Shane Sandefer is an associate attorney in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. He practices in the Environmental Law group and is a Registered Professional Engineer. His practice involves most aspects of environmental regulatory law, including permitting, compliance, enforcement and transactional issues, as well as environmental litigation matters. Prior to law school, Shane was a project engineer for Turner Environmental and a senior staff engineer for URS. He also served as an assistant project manager for Cajun Constructors and worked in the Hazardous Waste Enforcement group at the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
Shane, as a Registered Professional Engineer, assisted various municipal and industrial clients with environmental permitting, solid and hazardous waste management and remediation, environmental sampling, geotechnical engineering design, geotechnical investigations, watershed modeling, and hydraulic design.
Shane assists in the representation of local, regional and national clients in a variety of environmental matters, including regulatory proceedings, litigation management, and state and federal environmental advice.
Education
Shane received his J.D. and his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Law from the LSU Law Center in 2005 where he served as Vice President of the Environmental Law Society and was a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Alpha Delta. He received his M.S. in Civil Engineering concentrating on Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1998, and his B.S. in Civil Engineering from LSU in 1995.
