Shelley J. Harrison

Shelley Harrison is an associate attorney in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. She joined the firm in 2011 and practices in the environmental and litigation groups. Shelley assists in the defense of local, regional, and national clients in a variety of environmental, regulatory and general litigation matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Shelley served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Louisiana Department of Justice.  She also served as an Attorney Advocate for the Child Advocacy Program in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and as a Central Staff Attorney for the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Representative Experience

  • Assisted in the firm's defense of major oil and gas companies in lawsuits alleging that soil, sediment, groundwater, drinking water, Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM), and other types of environmental contamination were caused by oil and gas exploration and production activities
  • Supported the firm's representation of a major oil and gas company in oil field legacy cases involving Louisiana's Act 312, as well as claims for alleged breaches of mineral leases, surface leases, and the Louisiana Mineral Code


Shelley received her B.A. in English and Creative Writing in 2003 from Louisiana State University.  She received her J.D., cum laude, in 2007 from the Southern University Law Center.
