Business Development Specialist - Houston or The Woodlands

Kean Miller, one of the largest law firms in the region with 160 attorneys and 8 offices, has an immediate opening for a creative, organized, enthusiastic, professional Business Development Specialist.  The position can be based in downtown Houston or in The Woodlands.  The Business Development Specialist is responsible for marketing and relationship development support to our Texas-based attorneys and Louisiana-based attorneys working with Texas-based clients.  This position is responsible for opportunity development and coordination, research, event strategy and logistics, pitch and proposal creation, media and PR opportunities, attorney coaching, content marketing, social media, and corporate sponsorship coordination.

At its core, this position will work with the Texas-based attorneys, Managing Partner, Chief Operating Officer, Director of Business Development, Director of Marketing, and Practice Group Leaders to develop and implement strategies to expand the Firm’s relationships with existing clients, and assist in the development of new client relationships.  

  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of responsibilities and the aptitude for effective communication and creative problem-solving
  • Provide attorneys with an understanding of the competitive Texas legal landscape and position of the Firm for increased effectiveness in winning new business and maintaining client relationships
  • Excellent command of computer programs and research resources, including Microsoft Office, MonitorSuite, Interaction, Courthouse New Service, MatterWorks, Aderant, and internet search tools
  • Ability to prepare effective sales and marketing presentations and prepare compelling marketing materials
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and coordinate multiple timelines
  • Ability to work in a consultative manner – from the mailroom to the Managing Partner
  • Must be able to travel to take advantage of opportunities in the Firm’s offices across Texas and Louisiana, and nationally
  • Qualified candidates will have a competitive nature, ability to collaborate with like-minded professionals, and a desire to succeed in a demanding yet rewarding profession
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (Marketing, Business Administration, Business Management preferred)
  • At least five (5) years of success in legal or professional services-related marketing and business development.
