Lafayette Business Briefing: Venue and Choice of Law Considerations When Negotiating Contracts

Attorneys from three Kean Miller office locations in Louisiana and Texas will gather at City Club at River Ranch in Lafayette on October 6 to present a business briefing regarding Venue and Choice of Law Considerations When Negotiating Contracts. Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by the presentation at 12:00 p.m.
This program will address the importance of understanding, considering, and negotiating dispute resolution, arbitration, venue, and choice-of-law provisions in agreements where performance of the agreement will involve more than one jurisdiction. The presentation will also review the availability of the Texas Business Court, the basic structure and jurisdictional authority of the Texas Business Court, and caselaw generated by the Texas Business Court. The program will also discuss Louisiana’s efforts to develop specialized courts and outline the mechanics of the different types of dispute resolution that may be suggested for negotiated agreements.
This program is approved for 1 hour of Louisiana CLE credit as well as 1 hour of PDC toward SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification. 1 hour of CPE Credit is available. There is no fee to attend.
