Recent sales and use tax developments related to digital products and services have made progress in resolving some of the longstanding policy issues in this area. However, significant tax policy issues remain. Willie Kolarik will discuss the sales and use tax concepts and policy issues related to the state and local taxation of digital products and services through a review of the 2024 expansion of Louisiana’s tax base, with a view to highlighting areas of concern and challenges faced by tax practitioners, taxpayers, and providers of digital products and services.
