Georgette Reeves, Principal Consultant, ERM; and Joe Gross, Senior Consultant, ERM
While Greenhouse gas reporting has been required for larger facilities in the U.S. for more than 10 years, there has been an intense uptick in the scrutiny of that data. Stakeholders, investors, and other interested parties are learning more about the availability of reported greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. and using that data to inform a broad range of decisions. Companies are also starting to bolster their emissions through assurance. The presentation will provide an overview of the information available to the public, how it can be used or interpreted, and the advantages of shoring up greenhouse gas programs to become assurance ready.
9:55 - 10:15 AM – Break
10:15 - 11:00 AM – Preparing for Our Energy Future: Carbon Capture and Sequestration
Will Huguet, Partner, Kean Miller LLP
A broad presentation and discussion of carbon capture and sequestration (“CCS”) that will cover (i) drivers of CCS, (ii) myths and realities, (iii) Louisiana and Texas as ideal CCS locations, (iv) an overview of pertinent federal regulations, (v) the 45Q tax credit, (vi) the Louisiana Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide Act, and (vii) recent CCS headlines and developments.

The presenters will discuss why and how to conduct an LCA. Tradeoffs of methodologies and decisions will also be addressed.
