In Memoriam: Price Barker

The attorneys and staff of Kean Miller mourn the passing of S. Price Barker. He was an exceptional lawyer, partner, leader and friend. Price helped found the Shreveport office of Kean Miller in January 2014. He practiced in the labor and employment law arena for more than 28 years. A tireless advocate for the business community in North Louisiana, he served on the board of directors of the North Louisiana Economic Partnership and devoted countless hours to civic, community, and charitable organizations across the region.

During his legal career, he represented clients in collective bargaining, union campaigns, and in state and federal courts, as well as before various federal and state agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Louisiana, and Texas Commissions on Human Rights. He had extensive experience in Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), collective wage and hour cases, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) matters, and ADA access lawsuits.

He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in Labor and Employment Law (2012-2017) and Louisiana SuperLawyers as having attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement in the area of Labor and Employment Law.

A native of Ruston, Price earned his B.S. from the Louisiana Tech University in 1986. He earned his J.D. from the LSU Law Center in 1989.

Price Barker will be sorely missed by our law firm, his many personal and professional friends, and by the community at large. Our prayers are with his wife Cynthia, his son Matthew, the Barker family, and all those who knew and loved him.
