"As a litigator, I believe in precision organization, systematic analysis, and tenacious problem-solving to master the case facts essential to our client’s defense."

Kelicia Davis Raya practices law in the firm’s Energy and Environmental Litigation groups. She serves on key client teams that defend major local, national, and international energy companies doing business across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. Kelicia is a valued member of client defense teams that resolve major and high-stakes legacy litigation, land loss disputes, pipeline-related controversy, exploration and production claims, and environmental contamination lawsuits in state and federal courts.

Kelicia focuses her efforts on analyzing the broadest paths of discovery and streamlining that information into cogent talking points that often serve as the starting point for designing overarching case strategy. Clients and colleagues alike appreciate that Kelicia can be relied upon to know the details of every case in which she is involved. An active listener, she is also valued for converting feedback into persuasive talking points grounded in sound legal theory.

Kelicia supports all stages of complex civil litigation, including pre-suit investigation, dispositive motion practice, discovery, trials, appeals, and settlement negotiation. She believes in obtaining an in-depth understanding of the facts of each case, enabling her to concentrate on the issues that matter most. Kelicia is often asked to get involved in difficult matters that require a creative solution or novel approach to resolution. Her dedication to teamplay is manifest not only in the outcomes the firm obtains but also in organizing case details that result in easing case concerns and minimizing the challenges of litigation management for everyone around her.

Prior to joining the firm, Kelicia was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ivan L.R. Lemelle of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. While working for the court, Kelicia experienced firsthand the federal judicial process, and honed her research and writing skills while being exposed to a wide variety of legal issues. In addition, Kelicia was also selected to serve as a Diversity Summer Associate for ExxonMobil, where she gained a first-hand understanding of the internal workings of a major energy company’s legal department.
