He frequently serves as outside general counsel to clients who do not have an in-house legal department. Among Matthew’s clients are leading enterprises that range from emerging growth companies to multinational corporations – and everything in between.
Matthew’s experience includes the purchase and sale of industrial and commercial businesses, asset transfers, equity transfers, and the formation of new entities, including joint ventures. He drafts organizational documents and advises on corporate structure and corporate governance. He negotiates and drafts commercial and industrial leases and employment and non-competition agreements. He negotiates and drafts industrial service and purchase agreements across a variety of industries, including petrochemical site services and supply relationships, representing site owners, industrial contractors, and suppliers. Matthew also guides clients through secured finance initiatives, including syndicated credit facilities, construction loans, and asset-based loans.
A testament to his commitment to those he serves is the longevity of many of his client relationships. Matthew takes the time to really know and understand his clients well – how they think, what they want to achieve, and their distinct preferences for the delivery of legal services. This is why he is such a successful and trusted advisor and advocate for their distinct goals and vision. In addition, Matthew’s multi-dimensional understanding of distinct industry sectors, such as oil and gas, power, refining, chemical, and construction industries, and the day-to-day issues his clients face results in commercially relevant legal solutions that promote and continuously support their success.
Whether Matthew is focused on closing the deal at hand or analyzing the risk inherent in a given transaction or another business initiative, his extensive understanding of the law and business acumen allow him to make doing business a more streamlined and efficient process.
