Kean Miller Names Four New Partners

new partners january 2015Kean Miller is pleased to announce that Amanda Howard Lowe, Matthew Meiners, Elisabeth Prescott and Lee Vail have been elected to the partnership effective January 1, 2016.

About Amanda Howard Lowe Amanda Howard Lowe is a partner in the New Orleans office of Kean Miller. She joined the firm in 2009 and practices in the admiralty and maritime, energy and corporate litigation groups. Amanda has considerable experience in a wide variety of admiralty issues, including Jones Act and personal injury defense, maritime litigation, oil and gas exploration, drilling accidents, well blowouts, cargo damage, ship collisions, ship allusions, vessel groundings, lift board and jack-up rig accidents, vessel mortgage filings, product liability, redhibition, as well as premises liability, construction defect litigation and general personal injury litigation. Amanda earned her B.A. from Loyola University New Orleans in 2003. She earned her J.D., cum laude, in 2009 from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where she was a member of the Loyola Trial Advocacy National Team and the Trial Advocacy Board, 2008-2009. While at Loyola, Amanda was inducted into the National Order of the Barrister, 2009.

About Matthew Meiners Matthew Meiners is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. He joined the firm in 2009 and practices in the business and corporate group. Matthew has experience in the drafting and negotiation of numerous industrial service and purchase agreements. He also has experience representing numerous individuals and small businesses in connection with acquisitions and divestitures of their respective businesses and with formation of new entities, including drafting organizational documents and planning of overall corporate structure. Matthew earned his B.S. in International Trade and Finance with a minor in Economics from Louisiana State University in 1998. He earned his J.D, cum laude, from the LSU Law Center in 2009. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Baton Rouge Green.

About Elisabeth Prescott

Elisabeth Prescott is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. She practices in the real estate group, handling commercial and industrial real estate transactions. Elisabeth earned her B.B.A. in Finance, summa cum laude, from the University of West Georgia in 1998. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 2001. Elisabeth is a Director for Volunteers in Public Schools.

About Lee Vail

Lee Vail is a partner in the New Orleans office of Kean Miller. He joined the firm in 2010 and practices in the environmental regulatory, Process Safety Management, emergency response, and intellectual property groups. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana and holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. Prior to joining Kean Miller, Lee served as Manager of Environmental Affairs for a worldwide oil and gas company. Lee brings more than 30 years of process engineering, project management, process safety management, and environmental regulatory experience in the petroleum refining industry to the representation of industry clients. His expertise includes sophisticated interaction on behalf of industry clients in connection with regulatory compliance and permitting, Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Program (RMP), RAGAGEP, Process Safety Information (PSI), OSHA, EPA, and CSB Investigations, release reporting, incident management, and litigation avoidance. Lee is also a registered Patent Attorney and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Lee earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1978. He earned his M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Tulane University in 1983 and his M.B.A. from the University of New Orleans in 1987. Lee earned his J.D., cum laude, in 2010 from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he was recognized as a Crowe Scholar. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Tulane University in 1990. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lafayette Square Conservancy.
