Katie Bell is an associate attorney in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. She practices in the Litigation group. Katie represents clients in civil rights and municipal law, toxic tort defense, insurance defense, and commercial and business litigation.
Representative Experience
- Representation of municipalities throughout South Louisiana in the defense of federal civil rights suits; including a case involving allegations of a federal conspiracy in the United States Supreme Court.
- Representation of the Louisiana Municipal Association in significant municipal law issues in appellate courts.
- Successful defense of a police officer in a case alleging false arrest and excessive force.
- Successfully defended a former mayor in a suit alleging violations of the 13th Amendment and The Fair Labor Standards Act in Fifth Circuit.
Education
Katie received her J.D. and her Bachelor's Degree in Civil Law from the LSU Law Center in 2005. In law school, Katie was a member of the Order of the Coif, the Wex S. Malone Inns of Court, and was the Vice President of Phi Alpha Delta. Katie earned her B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 2002.
