Katie Bell is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller.  She practices in the litigation group.  Katie represents clients in civil rights and municipal law, toxic tort defense, insurance defense, and commercial and business litigation.

Representative Experience

  • Representation of municipalities throughout South Louisiana in the defense of federal civil rights suits; including a case involving allegations of a federal conspiracy in the United States Supreme Court
  • Representation of the Louisiana Municipal Association in significant municipal law issues in appellate courts
  • Successful defense of a police officer in a case alleging false arrest and excessive force
  • Successfully defended a former mayor in a suit alleging violations of the 13th Amendment and The Fair Labor Standards Act in The United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit
  • Representation of casino in personal injury suit alleging liability for third party criminal conduct

Education

Katie earned her B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 2002.  She earned her J.D. and her B.S. in Civil Law in 2005 from the LSU Law Center where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Wex S. Malone American Inn of Court and the Vice President of Phi Alpha Delta.
