Record Attendance Expected for 2025 Employment Law Forum

Kean Miller will host its popular and well-received 2025 Employment Law Forum Friday, November 7 at The Lawton Room in LSU’s Tiger Stadium. Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. followed by the first of three presentations at 8:45 a.m. The program will conclude with a networking lunch and optional tour of Tiger Stadium at 1:00 p.m.
The program is approved for 3.0 CLE hours by the Louisiana State Bar Association. The program is valid for 3.0 CPE hours and 3.0 PDC toward SHRM-CAP and SHRM-SCP recertification.
In the first presentation, Ed Hardin and Chelsea Gomez will focus on frequently asked questions and recurring issues including I-9s and I-9 audits, issues involving medical exams, timing of medical exams, leaves of absence and meal breaks, pay issues, vacation policies and vacation pay, and responding to subpoenas and other record requests.
Scott Huffstetler and Erin Kilgore will provide the basics for attorneys and HR professionals that support non-union workforces and may need a first-time basic training (or refresher) on the National Labor Relations Act and related traditional labor laws. Topics include union organizing campaigns, bargaining the initial and renewal contract with union representatives, managing the day-to-day relationship with the represented workforce, and more.
Prior to lunch, New Orleans Labor & Employment attorneys David Whitaker and Zoe Vermeulen will provide employers with an overview of what federal fair employment agencies are doing from a rule making, policy and enforcement perspective under the Trump administration.
