Lou Grossman resolves serious, high-stakes disputes involving the energy and petrochemical industries. Among Lou’s clients are a selection of the largest and most prestigious energy companies in the world. His clients range from Fortune 5 to 500 international corporations to national middle market and fast-growth enterprises to Louisiana-based privately held oil and gas businesses.
Lou’s energy industry experience includes litigating, trying, and appealing toxic tort and environmental damage claims and commercial litigation matters involving naturally occurring radioactive material and personal injury defense. In addition to providing proven tactical legal strategy that is effective both in and out of court, Lous brings the highest level of fluency to understanding the engineering and environmental issues that permeate these types of cases, including operational standards, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
Because Lou understands the historical context of the laws and regulations involved in legacy disputes, he is appreciated for designing cogent and effective legal strategy that reconciles sometimes disparate laws and regulations into persuasive arguments that mitigate client risk before courts and government agencies.
In addition, Lou’s versatility of practice is broad and deep, making him a welcome addition to any trial team. He has favorably resolved and continues to litigate, try, and appeal lawsuits involving railroad crossing accidents, FELA litigation, complex commercial litigation, landlord/tenant disputes, food safety claims, mass tort and class actions, toxic exposures, product liability, and general casualty litigation. Whether the dispute at hand involves billions of dollars or thousands of dollars at stake, Lou’s work ethic and dedication to each client’s best interests is steadfast.
A critical and multi-dimensional thinker to the core, Lou thrives in the areas of motion and appellate practice. He is particularly effective in reviewing and distilling copious amounts of information into relevant and key evidence to tell a compelling story.
Prior to moving to back Louisiana and rejoining Kean Miller, Lou spent several years in Colorado serving on the legal team for a well-known, national chain of casual restaurants. He successfully advised on all legal matters associated with the brand – ranging from commercial and general/casualty litigation to collective and class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. As a result, and in addition to his energy litigation, trial, and appellate acumen, Lou also litigates food safety claims and other complex commercial law disputes.
