Derek Brondum practices with the firm’s federal and state and local tax groups. He helps individuals and businesses of all sizes navigate both the state and federal tax systems. He often assists with matters involving income, franchise, sales/use, payroll, and other taxes. He also advises on business formations and represents individuals and companies under audit by various taxing authorities.  

Derek utilizes his experience as a Certified Public Accountant to help clients understand and comply with state and federal tax laws and regulations. He is also an Adjunct Instructor of Accounting at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he teaches an online course on the use of accounting data in business decision making for the MBA program. 

Prior to law school, Derek worked as a tax accountant for a local public accounting firm. He also worked as an accountant for a non-profit organization, where he focused on the preparation of the organization’s financial statements and led the implementation of a new financial management system.
