Forrest Guedry is an associate in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. He joined the firm in 2018 and practices in the casualty and mass tort litigation group. Forrest has represented national retail establishments, oil and gas refineries and transportation companies, international and local restaurants, trucking industry clients, casinos, gas detection manufacturers, durable medical equipment suppliers, telecommunication support companies, local contractors, municipalities, business owners, employers, and landlords in the defense of premise liability matters, personal injury lawsuits, contract disputes, defense of workers compensation claims, and eviction proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, Forrest practiced insurance and worker’s compensation defense in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Representative Experience
  • First chair experience in workers' compensation trials
  • First chair in construction accident personal injury trial resulting in defense verdict and eviction proceedings
  • Authored and argued a variety of successful motions, including summary judgments relative to statutory employer statutes, workers’ compensation fraud allegations, negligence, merchant liability act, and more; discovery disputes; bond for costs pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statute 13:4522; motions in limine, and other evidentiary issues – specifically related to the application of the collateral source rule
  • Experience as member of trial team in several large, multi-party litigation matters that settled shortly before trial and during trial
  • Drafting of appellate briefs in Louisiana appellate resulting in affirmation of favorable decisions received at trial court levels
  • Successful removal of numerous personal injury matters from state court to federal court venues
  • Taking depositions of plaintiffs, physicians, corporate representatives, lay and expert witnesses in personal injury, property and commercial disputes, and workers’ compensation litigation
  • Representing a variety of clients in multiple mediations with federal magistrate judges, private mediators, and court-appointed mediators
  • Identifying, retaining, and preparing experts, both consulting and testifying, in a variety of subject matters
  • Representation of national retailers in the defense casualty litigation, "slip and fall" cases and soft tissue personal injury cases throughout Louisiana and in the negotiation of settlement terms
  • Representation of local business owners in contract and wage dispute litigation
  • Defended construction contractors in workers’ compensation claims
  • Represented national cable and telecommunications subcontractor in defense of personal injury lawsuit
  • Defended national retail store from fraudulent personal injury claims
  • Represented international Fortune 100 company in defense of lawsuits resulting from automobile accidents
  • Successfully represented landlord in eviction proceedings and recovered past due rental payments and associated attorney’s fees
  • Defended local municipality in wrongful termination and personal injury litigation
Education

Forrest earned his B.A., cum laude, from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2012. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2015, where he served as Editor in Chief of the Loyola Maritime Law Journal. He also participated in the Loyola Moot Court Program as an oralist on the 2014-2015 Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Team. While at Loyola, Forrest also earned a Certificate in International Studies completing coursework in Vienna, Austria; Prague, Czech Republic; and Venice, Italy.
