Chris Dippel Joins Kean Miller to Lead White-Collar Criminal Defense Practice

Kean Miller is pleased to announce the addition of J. Christopher Dippel, Jr. as special counsel in the Firm’s downtown Baton Rouge office. Chris focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense, government investigations, internal investigations for businesses and organizations, and litigation. His experience includes ten years as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana, including serving as a Deputy Criminal Chief.

With this addition, Kean Miller expands its ability to assist clients in the defense and litigation of white-collar criminal proceedings. Chris will lead the Firm’s white-collar criminal defense group and is also a member of the commercial litigation group.

Chris has extensive trial experience and served as lead counsel for two multi-week securities fraud (insider trading) trials. He also tried cases related to health care fraud, conspiracy, drug trafficking, and firearm offenses. His work involved a wide variety of criminal matters, including investment and securities fraud, public corruption, false statements, embezzlement, tax violations, bank fraud, insurance fraud, wire and mail fraud, cyber offenses, civil rights violations, theft of government funds, counterfeiting, environmental crimes, child pornography, and violent crime. Before joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Chris served as an Assistant District Attorney in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Chris earned his J.D. from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2006 and his B.A. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. After law school, Chris served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jay C. Zainey of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
