Three Kean Miller Attorneys Named Baton Rouge Lawyers of the Year

About Blane Clark

Blane Clark is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller.  He is also the Managing Partner of the firm.  Blane has more than 29 years of experience in handling complex industrial, commercial and health care transactions for clients.  In addition to handling transactions for his clients, Blane works with clients in planning their overall corporate structure and in helping with day-to-day issues that surface in the operation of their businesses.  Blane has also advised many shareholders and partners on the relative rights of holders of a majority or minority equity position. Blane is listed among the top Corporate/M&A lawyers in the State of Louisiana by Chambers USA (2012).  He earned his B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1980.   Blane received his J.D. in 1984 from the LSU Law Center where he was a member of the Order of the Coif.

About Russel Primeaux

Russel Primeaux is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. He joined the firm in 1997 and leads the intellectual property (IP) practice, which includes trademark, patent, copyright and trade secrets. Russel is a Registered Patent Attorney and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He represents clients in obtaining protection for the various forms of IP and in litigation involving infringement. Russel also has experience in the representation of clients in the licensing, sale or evaluation of IP.  Russel teaches patent law at the LSU Law Center. He served on the Faculty of the LSU Law Center Trial Advocacy Program from 1995 to 1997. Russel served as Chairman of the Intellectual Property Section of the Louisiana State Bar from 1997 to 1998. He is also a former Marine artillery officer and Judge Advocate. Russel is listed in the The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White, Inc. 2003-2014 Editions) in the areas of Patent Law, Trademark Law, Litigation - Intellectual Property, and Litigation - Patent and in Louisiana Super Lawyers, 2007. Russel was named Baton Rouge Lawyer of the Year in Trademark Law for 2013 and Litigation – Intellectual Property for 2014 by Best Lawyers.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Greater Baton Rouge.   Russel earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1981. He earned his J.D., cum laude, in 1987 from the University of San Diego where he was a member of the San Diego Law Review.

About Charles McCowan

Charles McCowan is of counsel in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. A founding member of the firm, he has more than 40 years of experience and represents local, regional, national and international petrochemical, industrial, healthcare, and corporate clients in a wide variety of disputes.  His experience includes class action litigation, toxic tort defense, construction litigation, environmental litigation, and commercial disputes.  Charles is an AV-rated lawyer and was selected by his peers for membership as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL), the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the International Society of Barristers. He has also been listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White, Inc.) for more than 10 years and was named the Baton Rouge Mass Tort Litigator of the Year in 2010.  Charles is listed among the top litigation lawyers in the State of Louisiana by Chambers USA (2012) and is listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers 2007-2013.  He was counsel to the Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) and the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) for over thirty years.  Charles earned his B.S. from Louisiana State University in 1964.  He earned his J.D. in 1967 from the LSU Law Center where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Delta Phi, and the Order of the Coif. He served as a Staff Writer for the Louisiana Law Review from 1965 to 1967.  He also served as Captain, JAGC, United States Army from 1967 to 1971.  Charles was inducted into the LSU Law School Hall of Fame in 1987.
